The Institute of Subtropical and Mediterranean Horticulture "La Mayora" was created to unite the efforts of groups of the former experimental station "La Mayora" of the Superior Council of Scientific Research (EELM-CSIC) and groups of several departments of the University of Malaga (UMA) to promote and coordinate more effectively the scientific research on intensive horticulture and subtropical fruit growing developed in both entities.

Research lines

The Institute's lines of work range from the molecular aspects of plants and their pathogens to crop management. His research is focused on finding an integrated and sustainable culture in which the optimal use of resources is achieved, with less environmental impact and without leaving aside the commitment to the quality and organoleptic characteristics of the fruit.
