The University of Rennes 2 (UR2) is the largest higher education and research institution in the field of Arts, Humanities and the Social Sciences and Humanities in western France with 19 478 students, 600 administrative staff and 700 researchers. The operating and investment budget reached 100M€ in 2012. 400 PhD students are currently realizing their doctoral studies in the Human and Social Science (SSH) Graduate School, under the supervision of a high-level scientific community organised into 19 research units, 5 of which are associated with the French National Research Council (CNRS). Over 12% of the student body is composed of international students, with a third coming from other EU countries. Rennes 2 has two doctoral schools and is member of a research and technology transfer unit (SATT Bretagne). Its research publications are widely disseminated through the Presses Universitaires de Rennes (PUR), one of France’s leading university publishers. Rennes 2 University has extensive experience of international projects, including the coordination of European projects.
